Pro-Ratchet 60 with Wave Sheave
The most effective way to increase friction is to add sharp edges to the ratchet sheave, but this quickly deteriorates and wears away the rope. So, after working alongside leading rope manufacturers the Allen design team came up with a simple solution which improves grip without chewing away at your expensive rope.
The Wave sheave has an offset V-style grip, made from hard-wearing recycled plastic nylon, which does not have sharp edges that will eat into the line. Instead, by adjusting the V formation in the sheave to be slightly offset, the ratchet now grips the line at additional points around the sheave, resulting in more grip.
The wave sheave not only improves grip but as a result of the design it also allows for a less ‘jumpy’ feel when easing the sheets.
Wave Sheave – The wave sheave offers 20 to 40%* more grip without adding any additional wear to the rope. We recommend pairing this ratchet block with 7mm Excel Marstron Plus.
Switchable – In the middle of the block is a switch that can be used, even under load, to turn the ratchet mechanism on or off. Giving you more control and feel of your control system.
Swivel Lock – The swivel can be locked in 90-degree orientations via the small black swivel lock at the top of the block. Alternatively, the swivel can be set to spin freely.
Tii-Holes – The centre of the block features 4 holes to reduce weight as well as give options for tying elastic or rope through.
*Depends on the type of rope in use with the sheave.

This ratchet pulley gives me great grip on the mainsheet for my finn

I have been using this on my Splash this season. The increased grip made my life much easier! I had not realised how much my previous ratchet block was slipping until I got to sail with the new one in a strong breeze. I use it together with a 7mm technora coated mainsheet
