Pink Peacock report from Gdynia, Poland
Glamour location... personally I didn’t expect it, but it’s a nice place and really clean. The locals we have met seem friendly and happy to help. The event is being held in Gdynia, Poland, but we are staying in Sopot which has a great square and loads of nice bars and ice cream shops, and is just generally quite a nice place to hang out.
The sailing has been good, not all that much wind and a fair bit of chop, making it quite difficult, but same for everyone so just about making the best of it! We now have a day off tomorrow so will be enjoying some more of the local area.
Practise race today, and as there has been for the past few days, not a lot of wind, just enough to get twin trapezing and going fast. The”going fast” bit, we did well, as we had an average start, because we were a bit late getting into a gap. We were about mid fleet for the first half of the beat but a bit of extra pressure and a good lane paid well and we came through to lead at the top mark, from there we lead the way round, but didn't finish as it’s bad luck to win the practise race!
Hopefully tomorrow will bring good breeze and we can get the races off, as we have around 90 boats I believe. This means three fleets and 2 course areas - someone is going to have a long day!
