Dinghy Show 2015
The Dinghy Show this year seemed busier than it has for several years and there was a real buzz in the air. The weekend is a real family day out and the children are there more for the freebies that everyone gives away and to catch up with their friends than to look at sailboats. We took about 500 catalogues with us and gave out about 450 along with the same amount of bags. We also had a competition to win a beanie or mobile phone case and that went down very well, even with the adults – all 400 beanies have gone – the new fashion accessory must-have I think!
The surprise feature on our Dinghy Show stand this year was Jake Cookson’s land yacht. This was quite an attraction and drew crowds of admirers. The most common question about it was obviously what is the top speed? – By all accounts Jake has managed 50mph on flat sand.
Our new Aerovane wind indicator was the newest product to feature on the stand – and we had a lot of interest, so hopefully they will be seen in all good chandleries soon.
For a chance to win an Aerovane you need to send us your photos with Allen branding in the picture like this one of Edward Higson. Edward has won a Lower mast mounted Aerovane for his Laser.
Our award winning Keyball trapeze system had its first public outing to much praise by all who set eyes on it. We are very grateful to Mark Jardine at Yachts and Yachting Online for taking this video of Rob Lyne explaining its special safety features.
